False Hope v Options
We recently carried out a survey in a establishment to identify the number of cancer cases, the stage of the cancer and the treatment they had received and we also asked if these participants would be interested in alternative cancer treatments. We were told that this would not be an option as it would be giving patients false hope.
Surely the choice of treatment should lay with the individual so they can be given all the options available to be able to make an informed decision and decide for themselves if alternative treatments are suitable for them or not.
The information about alternative cancer treatments should be freely available to everyone, they are not about offering false hope, they are about alternatives to orthodox treatments. We believe everyone should have a choice.
